If 6 Car brands made Motorcycles

McLaren, Mustang, Porsche, Rolls-Royce. These names are legendary in the world of cars. Most of us have an image in our minds of how, for example, a car made by McLaren looks. But what if cars weren’t the only things these companies built?

If McLaren made a motorbike, would it have the iconic orange colour and sporty appearance? Would a Mustang motorcycle make us instantly think of the American spirit and style? These are some of the questions we try to answer with our designs.

1. McLaren sport bike

McLaren launched the 720S at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, and it’s the second all-new car in McLaren’s Super Series. It’s built on a modified carbon chassis, which makes it lighter and stiffer compared to its predecessor, the McLaren 650S. The 720S has a four-liter twin turbo V8 engine, which produces 720 PS, and the car’s design language is sporty. The motorbike inspired by this beast must reflect the same characteristics, and we think we achieved that with this design!

2. Mustang chopper

The Ford Mustang has embodied American cars for decades, and we love its style. The legendary Pony car has been in production since the 60s, and we were thrilled when the latest generation was introduced. So we asked: what would a Mustang-inspired motorbike look like? Surely it would have the same American spirit and attitude, just like our Mustang chopper.

3. Porsche cafe racer

The legendary German brand Porsche is known for being enjoyable to drive. Anyone lucky enough to drive one appreciates the pure driving experience, and that’s why the motorbike inspired by Porsche must be unique – like a Porsche-style café racer. Café racers are optimized for speed, handling and quick rides over short distances. They’re ideal for a day on the track – just like a Porsche.

4. Renault scooter

If you live in a large town like Paris, for example, one thing you appreciate in a car is its size. Parking a big car in a busy city can be a nightmare! But if small cars aren’t your thing, scooters will also do the trick. So how might a Renault-inspired scooter look? We think this elegantly-designed scooter would feel right at home in the Parisian streets.

5. Rolls-Royce touring bike

Rolls-Royce is one of the world’s most respected car brands. It’s legendary Phantom, which is now in its eighth generation, has been a favourite of public figures including Queen Elizabeth II, Aga Khan and John Lennon, to name a few. Naturally, then, any motorcycle inspired by a Rolls-Royce must be luxury bike – one that fits into the garages of royals and rock stars alike.

6. Land Rover dirt bike

The story of the Land Rover began in 1948, when the Rover Company introduced a four-wheel drive car with off-road capabilities. Things have changed a lot since then, but we wanted to get back to the company’s roots with this Land Rover-inspired motorbike. The colours used in our dirt bike design remind us of the very first Land Rovers – and they’re just as tough. This bike is made for off-road conditions like sand, gravel, rivers, mud and snow.

As our designs show, these iconic cars can be transformed into motorbikes without losing the characteristics that make them unique. We relish the thought of cruising the American highways on a Mustang-inspired chopper, feeling the wind and the spirit of adventure. Which one best suits you?
