Adding to the impressive range of new Harley-Davidson® motorcycles, a new Softails® has been revealed at the legendary EICMA show in Italy. The factory custom All-New Harley-Davidson Sport GlideTM has been designed to do it all; tour, commute or cruise. Taking design inspiration from the Touring range, the Sport Glide has a contemporary feel all of its own.
The Sport Glide is perfectly summed up as a ‘Quick Change Artist’: it has all the aggression of a factory fitted cruiser with detachable panniers and fairing that are equally at home either on the country roads or built up urban life. As the ninth model in the All-New Harley-Davidson Softail® platform, the Sport Glide perfectly blends style with technology. With a lightweight yet stiff chassis, the Sport Glide delivers handling performance and agility. The Milwaukee-Eight® 107 V-Twin engine produces superb levels of torque for passing power and excellent acceleration.
Choose from three solid colours, Vivid Black, Silver Fortune or Twisted Cherry, the Sport Glide is designed to deflect wind away from the riders chest giving clean stream of air around the riders head. With a seat height of just 652.7mm, it fits a broad spectrum of riders. An Daymaker LED is circled by a ring of LED signature lights that complement the distinctive rear taillight. Harley-Davidson Smart Security System and USB charging port are also standard.
Commenting about the launch of the Sport Glide, Harley-Davidson’s Vice President of Styling and Design, Brad Richards commented “The Sport Glide presents the broad influence of Harley-Davidson design in a very contemporary way. In the new fairing, for example, you can see the influence of the iconic batwing fairing from Harley Touring models, but it’s been trimmed back to create a more compact, sporty shape”. He added “The Sport Glide project offered us a unique opportunity to utilise a directional wheel, the first of its style to come out of the Harley-Davidson factory on a non-CVO model. The spokes sweep from the hub to the rim to create a sense of motion even when the Sport Glide is parked. The look of motion is reinforced with the shape of the fairing and the panniers, and even the slash-cut exhaust tips”.
Harley-Davidson will be unveiled for the first time in the UK at Motorcycle Live 2017. Visitors to the NEC can see the All-New Harley-Davidson Sport Glide as part of the display.
