Soldiers based at Catterick Garrison were given the opportunity to experience the thrills and spills of the open road on a number of iconic Harley motorcycles at an event organised by two members of the Armed Forces and Gateshead-based Jennings Harley-Davidson.
The test ride event took place on the Parade Square and airfield at Marne Barracks, North Yorkshire, where seven models from the Harley-Davidson range were on display and available for soldiers to test ride.
Throughout the event staff from Jennings Motor Group’s Ellison Road Harley-Davidson dealership in Gateshead, a member from the Geordie Chapter H.O.G and senior representation from Harley-Davidson, were on hand to assist with the test rides and give advice and information about the impressive range.
Despite inclement weather conditions, the event was hailed a huge success and plans are already in place for another event in the near future.
Grant Anderson, dealership manager at Jennings Harley-Davidson in Gateshead, said; “The event came about as a result of selling a couple of bikes to two members of the Armed Forces stationed within the Garrison. They asked if it would be possible for us to come to Catterick to display a range of models, and we thought we could do better than that and came up with the idea of arranging a test ride experience for all of the Armed forces and MOD personnel stationed within the Garrison.
“Despite adverse weather conditions, the event was a huge success; so much so, we are in the process of planning another event within the Garrison, which I’m confident will be just as successful and well received by all participants.”
